Before #mealprep was a thing..

Before #mealprep was a thing...people packed a lunch. They grocery shopped, bought things in bulk, and ate out of Tupperware containers. I don't know when or how this evolved but it's big business today. If I ever live in LA or NYC, I plan to make mega bucks "meal prepping" for people. AKA cooking once and dividing into smaller containers for rich, lazy people.

I see these how-to and diy posts all the time and I just want to let you know, there's not some mystical diet secret. Ya set it and forget it. You weigh. You measure. And you eat your lunch without worry. I'm pretty obsessed with meal prep only because if I don't do it, I don't feel in control. And who doesn't like to wear the pants in their relationship with food? I'm in charge dude.

And if you're eating frozen, dried, or whatever kinda meals you're eating for lunch, why waste the money? The preservatives needed to make "Chicken Alfredo" only be 200 calories and not have to be refrigerated is just scary.

I work for Weight Watchers. I am SO glad we do not promote SmartOnes in meetings. The brand name is on there. But we teach people to shop for, prepare, and eat REAL food. It will save you money, benefit your health, and yes along the way you'll lose some weight.

So in case it's confusing, here's what I did today. It should not take hours or stress you out.

I cut a spaghetti squash in half and put it in the crock for 2.5 hrs on high with 2 c water.
I hiked with my dog.
I grocery shopped.
I put 5 chicken breasts in the crockpot with BBQ sauce on top and buffalo sauce. Set to high.
I gardened.
I sat in the sun.
I shredded the chicken after 5 hours.
I boiled some eggs. Used the same hot water to boil some whole wheat Mac and cheese for the hubs.
I had zoodles already done for me.

Now here comes the tricky part...you might want to sit down for this.

I got the Tupperware out. I measured the chicken and Mac.  Divided the eggs into baggies for snacks.

That's it. We each have 3 lunches ready for the work week.

No stress.

So we don't have to play the guessing game of "How much chicken is this"?!
Mac and cheese for the husband. Zoodles for me.
